At our last meeting, Amy Ryan spoke to us about making God our #1 priority, more important than EVERYTHING else. And that happens when HE becomes everything to us. She quoted Exodus 20:2, Matthew 4:10 and Genesis 1:27.... God is a jealous god, we are to worship and serve him only and that we're in his image and we are different from everything else.
Amy shared that Adam & Eve had a relationship with God that was unhindered by sin. We can have a relationship with our creator by spending time with him but we need to be intentional. God doesn't need us but he wants us! He pursued us and chose us. We need to choose to commune with him. We need to make God a habit.
Amy also talked about the non-negotiable:
1) time alone with God
2) Christian fellowship
3) a church home and
4) teaching the word of God to our children.
Amy shared with us how her circumstances in life changed- from the sunny, warm southwest to the frozen tundra back in Wisconsin. She was not happy about it at all, it was not what she wanted. She was miserable but she chose to be joyful and asked God to change the desires of her heart and He did! She then gave us a few pointers on how we can sell out to Jesus. First, we need to pledge our life to Him and do it regardless of how well equipped we feel we are. Second, no matter what problems or tragedies we face, we have the power to always let our circumstances be used for his glory.
"Don't tell God your big problems, tell your problems you serve a BIG God"!
